Gorgeous Craft Project for a Valentine’s Day
What a lovely and romantic bedroom, isn’t it? These hearts are made of fabric scraps which have been layered and attached with iron-on adhesive. In order to make the garland, there were holes made in each heart. After that, they have been arranged in a beautiful love garland that is now displayed in the bedroom. Ready for the night?

I love auctions. Household or collectibles, they’re a real treasure ground. Sometimes there’s so many lots and delicious rare mixture of items, it’s hard to gather all in one go. But it’s a gamble and taking the risks is exciting. I do love mixed lots, as it’s never guaranteed what hides in there.
Last night at the household auction, among other items, I found this gorgeous Arabic Leather Vintage Handbag with Drawstrings. It comes with little tassel on each handle and pretty ‘La Caravane’ Camel Caravan print detail around the base. This retro bucket handbag has got round reinforced base and drawstring opening. It’s made from delicious shade of soft leather, and you cannot deny the authenticity of this product, and you know it was hand made in some hot oriental place 😉

Harry Potter first edition books

Collectibles become quickly nice way of investing, and if you collect something you’re passionate about, it’s very rewarding process. I do love searching through household auctions and collectible auctions in the hope I’ll come across a hidden gem, which will turn out to be worth much more than I paid. I love doing it, and once I started reading the Miller’s Antiques & Collectibles Guidebook, I’m having better idea of what I’m looking at once I come across anything interesting.
Quite recently I’ve come across 4 of the first editions of Harry Potter books. First editions of sought after books can be very valuable, and taking into consideration thee books are still fairly ‘young’ they are not worth more than few pounds each at present day. This will however change give it few years time, as the first Harry Potter (“The Philosopher Stone”) in the first edition is already worth between £150 – £500. Worth consideration? I think so…
Rustic Upcycled Coat Hanger
I’m on the up cycling quest right now, and changing the decor around the house, one tiny step at the time. Right now my focus is on the room downstairs, which is our dumping ground at the moment, but at the same time it’s also the first thing you see as you enter the house, as it’s located just by the front door. So here we go. First and foremost deal with the jackets and dog leads lying on a various other things, since the old coat rack has broken. As with my up cycling business I encourage to recycle old items instead of buying new ones, I decided it is the time for me to apply this rule right now. I have got an old piece of wood, which I have painted first with Laura Ashley acrylic paint in buttermilk, and once it was dry I have applied a layer of a grey shade. I have worked my brush quite unevenly to achieve rustic shabby chic style I love so much. After both layers have been applied, I have distressed the top grey layer of paint to reveal the buttermilk under layer. With my old but so dependable belt sander I have distressed the top layer and the edges to show the natural rustic wood. After finished, I have fixed few old loose drawer pulls and hooks, that have been lying in my tool box forever. I didn’t want to buy new set of matching hooks (although the coat rack would look soooo much better) as I wanted to upcycle all the loose bits I have had always here. So I went for the mixture of hooks and pulls, and located them unevenly to get this rustic look. The coat hanger is already fixed to the wall in is working so well, I’m very happy 😉
Clarice Cliff Ceramics
This week, now after the Christmas break, I’ve had a chance to go to the first auction – in Lostwithiel. As usual, the collection did not disappoint, with the most delicious selection of an English Pewter, oriental furniture, fantastic ceramics and even an original poster from the movie ‘Some Like It Hot’. The one thing that caught my eye was Clarice Cliff’s beautiful Tea set. Clarice Cliff is very collectable and sought after right now, with geometric designs and strong colours. The Art Deco designs are very in right now, in my opinion, and this exactly fits in the trend. Although Clarice Cliff herself lived and created in the first half of the XXth century, which is well after the Art Deco trend, it is bearing it’s influence. The single pieces can fetch 3-figure sums, when sold in the right place. Not to mention, that when it sells for big sums, it means that acquiring it could hit your pocket as well. But if you have a Clarice Cliff already in your possesion and want to sell for the profit, now is the perfect time.
